Swobodna

Two office buildings are being constructed in the southern downtown area of Wrocław. Between the stepped volumes, a green canyon of a publicly accessible passage is being created.

The passage between the buildings is shaped by organic islands of lush greenery that meander through the space

The design focuses on creating a welcoming and dynamic public space. A pedestrian passage weaves between the buildings, offering access to main entrances and ground-floor commercial areas. Lush greenery and thoughtfully integrated recreational elements enhance the space, making it both functional and inviting.

The façade’s warm brick tones complement the vibrant greenery while echoing Wrocław’s architectural character. To achieve a sense of lightness, the building’s form features a refined gradation of tectonic elements, with opaque sections that subtly taper as they rise.

The outer edges of the buildings are surrounded by linear green spaces that highlight pedestrian pathways, creating a buffer between walkways and the roadway along Swobodna and Gwiaździsta streets

The planned high-rise development and underground parking create a challenging environment for urban greenery and future users of this space. The goal of the new site design is to mitigate extreme weather conditions typical of densely built-up urban areas while creating a welcoming and comfortable space for its users.

The passage between the buildings is envisioned not only as a functional corridor but, above all, as a green oasis for those who work and spend time there. Our aim is to establish a friendly space with a unique microclimate – one that provides a soothing retreat during breaks while remaining resilient to harsh urban conditions. The passage is designed to evoke the feeling of a green canyon, with lush vegetation at ground level climbing up the façades.

The urban furniture is designed with a steel structure to seamlessly integrate with the form of the green islands, creating a cohesive aesthetic
