Złota and Zgoda Streets
The project is a competition entry for the urban landscape concept of the New Warsaw City Centre. The area is set to undergo a major transformation, featuring multiple city squares and diverse urban spaces.
The core idea of the proposed project is to unify the city center through targeted point interventions (squares) and linear interventions (streets), utilizing diverse water features and lush, sculptural urban greenery. Interwoven constellations of plants and water reservoirs – whose forms and layouts will vary depending on the square or street – will follow a cohesive design language while giving each space its own distinct and unique character.

The role of vegetation and water is not only to introduce a new spatial quality but also to highlight historical compositional elements of the city center that have been neglected due to years of disregard. Ponds, groves, bosquets, tree-lined avenues, and reflective water surfaces will mark and reinforce the city’s sightlines, shaped over centuries. An equally important aspect of the project is the introduction of smaller spatial and architectural elements, such as canopies, within the designed area.

The final element of the project are spatial and artistic interventions that go beyond creating a single visual landmark at the intersection of Zgody Street and the House Under the Eagles. Instead, it is a comprehensive transformation affecting most of the new spatial elements across the entire competition area.
Patterns, forms, and color compositions – realized through paintings, mosaics, neon lights, cladding, and integrally pigmented building materials – will reflect the project’s central theme: the symbol of the city, the Warsaw Mermaid. This cohesive artistic vision will unify the entire intervention into a seamless, compelling, and beautiful narrative of the New Warsaw City Centre.
